UniFi Access controllers store credentials locally, so doors keep working on the local network even without an internet connection — you're not locked out just because your NBN drops. For power outages, each door is configured as fail-safe or fail-secure depending on what's appropriate for that door (e.g. fire egress requirements), and a battery backup for the controller can be added if continued operation during a mains outage matters for your site.
